According to MTA (Mineral Research & Exploration General Directorate), in Turkey, Kütahya is one of the cities having the rich underground sources, metallic mine and industrial raw materials, such as boron, kaolin, silver, chromium, alunite, antimony, cupper-lead-zinc, iron ore, manganese, magnesite, cement raw materials, feldspar, gypsum and fluoride. Among the mines Turkey has, Boron, having 72% of the World reserve, and 70%of this reserve, that is, 1.681.474.000 tones, is located in Kütahya (Emet).

The only operating silver mine of Turkey with 20.000.000 tons reserve (equals to 3.650 tons metal silver reserve) is located in Gümüşköy-Kütahya.
Kütahya has rich deposits of kaolin and magnesite. A large proportion of magnesite used in Turkey is produced in Kütahya. Kütahya has also rich lignite deposits, that’s why it has two thermal power plants.
